AARP Foundation Tax-Aide preparation by trained and IRS-certified volunteers begins Monday, February 5, at the Library. The call center opens Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 9am, to make a tax appointment. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE LIBRARY. AARP membership is not required.

TAX PREPARATION APPOINTMENTS are Mondays only, February 5 – April 8 (excluding February 19th).

You must have an appointment; no walk-ins. Intake booklets will be available at the library Adult Information Desk once your appointment is scheduled for you to complete prior to your appointment.

Bring to appointment:

  • Photo ID and Social Security card for all people listed in the tax return
  • Copy of your 2022 returns
  • All 2023 W-2s, 1099 forms and social security statement
  • End-of-year brokerage statements
  • Checking account information (for direct deposit)
  • All supporting documents for itemized deductions

Tax-Aide volunteer preparers cannot complete returns with rental income or Schedule C (Business Profit and Loss) if you’ve had a loss or expenses over $25,000.

Filing jointly? Both taxpayers need to be present except in cases of illness or infirmity.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides in-person and virtual tax preparation help to anyone, free of charge, with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low to moderate income.

New York State Forms and Resources Online

Print your tax Forms - Pick Up at the Library

The Guilderland Public Library is now offering Print From Anywhere so you can print your tax forms. While we generally do not charge to print a tax form, we would appreciate payment for any printing of longer instruction booklets.

  • Black & white printing $.10/ page
  • Color printing $.25/ page

Simply download the forms you need from the IRS or New York State, and use the Print From Anywhere website to send the forms to our printer.

Library staff will not determine which tax forms you need or provide tax advice. 

To bring:

  • Photo ID and Social Security card for all people listed in the tax return.
  • A copy of your 2018 return.
  • All 2019 W-2s and 1099 forms.
  • End-of-year brokerage statements.
  • Supporting documents for itemized deductions.
  • A check showing the taxpayer’s bank account and routing numbers, if direct deposit of a refund is desired.

What you need to know:

  • TaxAide volunteers are trained and certified with the IRS to prepare personal Federal and NYS income tax returns.
  • TaxAides cannot complete returns with rental income or Health Savings Accounts, or Schedule C (Business Profit and Loss) if you’ve had a loss or expenses over $25K.
  • Filing jointly? Both taxpayers need to be present except in cases of illness or infirmity.
